I bought a flower paper punch and lots and LOTS of purple and white/silver scrapbook paper...I had quite a fun time choosing basically anything that I wanted. I punched out about 20 pages worth of flowers, and my original intention was to individually stick them up on the main wall of our living room, creating an ombre effect by going from dark to light. However, the idea of taking time to put adhesive on each flower and place it on the wall was a bit daunting for this college girl, so I opted to sew them into a garland that I will stick on the wall. Not as cool, perhaps, but also a lot faster. ;)
I also bought several roles of crepe paper streamers in three different shades of purple, and ruffled them together into a bit of a fancier garland. I took my inspiration from this blog post, simply setting the tension of my machine at its highest setting and sewing down the middle. I wasn't too careful to keep the streamers perfectly aligned all the time or sew perfectly in between, but these are most likely one-time-use decorations so I don't mind.
I also bought several sheets of this fancy white paper embossed with a floral pattern and covered in silver foil. I cut out by hand several hearts of relatively the same size, and sewed sets of two together down the center, so that when I folded the edges together they made hearts from all sides. I left the thread tails long on top so I can hang them from doorways or something.
Probably the biggest project that I have taken on for this bridal shower was the making of about 70-80 (I didn't bother even counting) tissue paper flowers. I incorporated blues, purples, and a little burgundy and pale pink (the paper I bought came in packs of all colors, so I tried to use as many as possible) as well as this beautiful white paper with silver patterns. I love tissue paper flowers because for the time it takes to make them, you get fairly good coverage/space filled, and they are relatively inexpensive to make.
I also bough wooden block letter cutouts of the initials of the bride and groom, which I plan to put in one of the windows. There are also a few glass jars with purple ribbon around them that I will hopefully buy purple flowers to put in, and I have another project with photos of the couple to display. Hopefully I will be able to take photos of the finished set-up so you can see how it all comes together!
P.S. Sorry about the terrible photo quality. Even though I have another camera besides my phone, but the quality is actually worse so I was kind of stuck.
